Guess WHAT?!?

I’m teaching a class at next year’s Cake Fest Louisiana. If you’ve seen that hanging fish cake in your news feed, don’t miss your opportunity to see how it’s done for yourself! If you are interested in attending Cake Fest, or taking my class, follow the link below for more information!

I never thought when I began this caking journey that I would ever have an opportunity to teach one of my designs alongside some of the biggest names in the industry. I am truly blessed to have found this path and couldn’t be more encouraged by the supportive family I have. Somehow, I feel like this is only the beginning! Thank you to everyone for all of your support along the way. SO many big things are coming!

A Party Fit For an ARTIST

This cake was definitely a new adventure for me. I experimented with the structure for a gravity defying cake for a couple of weeks, the workers at Lowe’s thought I was nuts! You can probably guess that it was made for my sweet girl’s 4th birthday party. She told me for an entire year that she wanted an “Artist Party” because that’s what she wants to be when she grows up (along with a million other things) I was inspired by a cake done by Cuteology Cakes . Peyton did the artwork herself on edible paper with edible markers which made this cake even more special! The paint can and number four are edible (see the pictures in the comments). Her smash cake was the pottery inspired paint brush cup. Sorry for the long description — you can tell I’m excited.

New Happenings

We have had the incredible opportunity to take part in some fantastic things over the course of the past month. I want to thank everyone for their continued patience with me as I continue to get through all of the emails and phone calls we have been receiving.

Here’s an idea of some of the things that have been happening at Sweet Elizabeth!

Thanks again to everyone who voted for my bridal photo — we WON! My picture has been used on the front cover of Southern Celebration Magazine’s latest issue. You will also see Sweet Elizabeth’s work in the inside, I am THRILLED!

You can pre-order your copy here.

Aside from creating several beautiful wedding cakes and over-the top Groom’s Cakes for our great clients, we were also able to take part in multiple events since our last blog post. We were able to sponsor St. Amant High School’s FFA program during their “Eggstravaganza”. We have also taken part in two fantastic Bridal Shows. The first was Southeastern University’s “Plan Your Wedding In A Day Expo” where we met some fabulous brides and vendors! Our most recent bridal show took place at Parc 73. We had an absolute blast taking part in this faux wedding. If you haven’t gotten a chance to check it out, I would strongly suggest making an appointment to go by this hidden gem.

I also entered the white cake into a small contest. It was covered in hundreds of edible flowers and leaves made from wafer paper — my new FAVORITE medium!

We have met with several brides to design the cakes for their big day — and let me tell you, we have some awesomeness coming soon!

Oh, AND our work has been featured, again!

Here are a few other places around the web we have been featured:

My apologies as I still have not been able to update the galleries with all of the cakes we have been making recently, however I did get a moment to quickly edit my most recent creation!

As you can see, things have been a little hectic around here! There are some great things to come with both Sweet Elizabeth and my family. I am truly looking forward to all of my upcoming orders and events. My sweet girl’s last day of preschool is approaching faster than I would have liked — where has my baby gone?!? And my incredible husband will be graduating next week with his Masters Degree! I am truly blessed with all of the support I have been given and can’t wait to see where this journey takes my family and I.

My Heart

This is my beautiful daughter, Peyton Elizabeth.

She is the heart and soul of Sweet Elizabeth. She keeps the fire to succeed burning bright. I can only hope that one day she will look back at all of our incredible cake-making moments with a big smile on her face, knowing that she was the fuel of this caking journey. It is always hard balancing the work that comes with this business and being a great mom. I am no where near perfect, but this sweet girl comes very close to it. There is nothing better than being able to work from home with the occasional help from an overzealous four year old. For now, rolling out fondant and making the animal or figure of the day is some of the best fun she has in mommy’s cake shop. Her creativity never ceases to amaze me, and I know that one day she will do incredible things. I have been blessed with a support system that is beyond compare, and this little gem is my number one fan. I truly hope that I have made her proud, and that this journey will bring her many smiles for years to come. At times, I get a little burnt out, or overwhelmed from the toils of owning my own business. How do I balance work and play? Am I doing this right? What should the next step be? — And I always know I’ll find the answer in my sweet girl’s eyes. I love you Peyton Elizabeth, thank you for being my rock.
